One hat fits this little guy as he grows and grows. The hat started out too big, but now, it's just right!

Preemie Photos

You can be a crochet diva, too! Get hooked.

Come see what we're crocheting!

These tiny hats aren't much bigger than the quarter and penny at the bottom of the photo. Crocheting preemie hats is an ongoing project for the Tallahassee Crochet Guild. The hats keep the babies warm and help protect them. Parents like to see their sweet little ones "dressed up" for a visit. Our next project: crocheted Santa hats for all December babies—regular and preemie sized! Ho, ho, ho!

Every year Michaels and Warm Up, America sponsor Joining Parties. This year, the Tallahassee Crochet club decided to donate all of the blankets made at the party to Blankets for the Gulf. The blankets will be donated to shelters throughout Texas and Louisiana to help those who were displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. It was difficult to find organizations who would deliver the blankets to these areas. We're glad we found Blankets for the Gulf. We're contributing 15 blankets. Some were joined together with donated squares and some blankets were crocheted in full by Tallahassee Crochet Club Members. Tallahassee Crochet Club members did all of the joining on these blankets. Contributors: Donna Young, Doris Cannella, Marianne Battiste, Melanie Mays, Sandy Knight, Cindy Bellia, LaLa, Mary Howard, Dawn Havrid, Carol Denning, and Fran Dwyer. Most blankets are approximately 49" X 63" or larger.

Members Doris Cannella,  Melanie Mays, and Mariann Battiste donated 20 stuffed and crocheted toys for the 4 and 5 year olds at the Fugate Hill Head Start in Rogersville, TN.  If the toy wasn't crocheted, we added a crocheted sweater, hat or scarf. We know this made their holiday brighter!

Preemie blankets are easy to crochet. We make them for preemie babies and regular sized babies as well. We donated the blankets to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. This is a year round project for us. We've also donated blankets to the expectant mothers at Lively Academy and at the Brehon Center. Member Marianne Battiste crocheted this cute panda blanket. Member Liz Lewis has donated at least 20 preemie blankets on her own! Preemie blankets are 15" X 20" and regular sized baby blankets are 36" X 24".
